Aspire Academy, Worcester

The Aspire Academy needed undertake their statutory Electrical Installation Condition Report.  Black Pear were awarded the contract based on price, we also liked that they were a local company and were very thorough during their tendering site visit. During the summer holiday period we had other contractors on site.   What we particularly liked about Black Pear Electrical was that they were friendly, adaptable to everything else going on at the time in the school and answered any queries we had at the end of the works. Black Pear Electrical completed all the fixed wire testing and provided the Academy with a full written report.  The report was very clear and understandable; including a comprehensive spreadsheet breakdown detailing any remedial works required, categorised by urgency.  Not on any occasion did Black Pear attempt to push themselves for fulfil the rectification work. When the occasion arises again to undertake price comparisons for electrical works, or in an emergency situation, we will have no hesitation than to approach Black Pear.

The Project

Black Pear Electrical won a competitive tender to supply Aspire Academy with their 5 year statutory Electrical Installation Condition Report. As well as competitive price, Aspire Academy selected Black Pear because of their thoroughness in the tendering site visit.

The electrical inspection work  was all done during the summer holiday, when there were a number of contractors, including electrical contractors present on the site. Black Pear Electrical collaborated with the building contractors’ Project Manager, which saved the school Operations Manager time.  A part of the building was being refurbished . Black Pear electrical engineers collaborated with the building works project manager prior to the works being carried out and with the guys on site to ensure there was no disruption to each others work schedules and that all was carried out safely and thoroughly

Black Pear Electrical did all the full fixed wire testing and provided the school with a summary report and a detailed spreadsheet which listed the remedial work recommended and the timescale and urgency of getting the remedial work completed. After the inspection, the school were provided not only with  three documents; the Electrical Installation Condition Report (or EICR), a covering letter to explain and summarise the findings and a remedial works planner, which detailed  the fault, location, works and materials required to resolve each issue. This allowed the in situ maintenance electrician to easily identify and quickly resolve any  electrical issues found by the Black Pear inspection team.

Our Approach

The school appreciated the friendly, adaptable team at Black Pear Electrical and found their written report to be informative, clear and understandable, with very little use of industry ‘jargon’. Knowing that Aspire had a maintenance electrician in place, we were happy to work with him to provide the best outcome for the school ensuring that the electrical system is safe for continued use and legally compliant

Black Pear Electrical were happy to visit the school again at the end of the project, to ensure the staff understood the changes made to the systems.
